What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro Lingusitic Programing

Neuro, of course here we’re talking about the mind, our conscious mind and our unconscious mind. Our mind works in the most amazing way, remembering good and bad experiences and reminding us of them when we need to sense danger or fear, but sometimes our mind can work too hard or warns us of danger when there is none. Some people can go into the fear - flight - fight mode when speaking publicly about a subject they are very good at, their hands might sweat and their mouth go dry, all these symptoms and more are sometimes created as a result of our mind working over time. Just relax, you’ll feel better soon if we can just find the right words to say…

Linguistic, simply the way we talk to ourselves and each other. The way we talk and the way others talk to us can have the most profound effect on how we feel, basically it affects our mind. Before speaking publicly on a subject you know well, how would you feel if someone said “I bet you’re nervous talking to that big audience out there”? What would happen if someone said “You know so much about this subject, we can’t wait to hear what you have to say”? If you want to know more about how words can have physical effects on you, I have just one word to say to you:
LEMONS
Yes, think of a lemon, that’s right. What does it smell like? Can you remember that smell? What does it feel like? Now I’m guessing that you’re not holding a lemon right now, in fact there’s probably not a lemon anywhere near you, so why are you salivating? Did you know that our brain has difficulty following negative commands? Have you ever noticed when someone say’s “Just don’t think about it” - you do! When someone say’s “Don’t worry” it doesn’t really work. Here, let’s prove it, don’t and really I mean this now, don’t, you really mustn’t think about blue cats. Now I said don’t! Ok, so don’t, and I mean it this time, really, don’t - swallow. Your clever brain has spoken to your body and your body has responded. That’s the power of language.

Programming, so if the brain responds so well to the heard and spoken word, why not use those words in a deliberate way to programme our minds, you’ll be amazed at the progress you can make.
